"authentication" module: autentication - introduction

the "authentication" module enables construction of limited access web sites.

the "authentication" module is based on the establishment of work sessions in which the user must first identify himself with a username and password. From this GenBnet management site, data and privileges of the various users authorized to access the limited access areas are maintained.

the GenB extensions in the "authentication" module facilitate:
-. construction of pages for "login" identification and startup of a work session.
-. setting up page protection controls.
-. construction of links and/or pages for logging off of a work session.
-. reading all the authorized user data as allowed by the GenBnet authentication registry, in order to be previewed on pages with "log in" and "log out" protected access.

the authentication module can be used in combination with the rest of the Gen modules.

NOTE: for authentication, in the initial "User Log in" authentication process, the GenB system will search for a record with identification field values that coincide in all data templates .

brief description of the process of integration to create controlled access sites

1.- create a data template that contains a minimum of one field for user name and a second field for the password.

NOTE: the authentication data template could contain any kind of field, even document or picture fields.

NOTE: on all authentication pages, the values of all the fields in the data template used by the user in session can be shown (except in the password field).

2.- activate the identification or "User Log in" process on a PHP GenB page in DreamweaverŽ MX.

3.- in DreamweaverŽ MX and with the aid of the GenB authentication objects, protect any page with restricted access.
