GenB enables insertion/updating/deleting of "data" contents and of data template "structure", through the process of files in XML GenB format.

for correct manipulation of GenB files in XML format, read the chapter on description of data and structure in GenB XML format carefully.

the GenB importing process always reads the XML file first to control the validity and integrity of the information to be imported. as a security measure, the system does not alter/incorporate data or structure if an error is detected during the supervision process.

GenB enables import of data and/or structure through GenB files in XML format in the following modules:
• News.
• Registries.
• Newsletters.
• Generics.
• Authentication.
• Products.

to access the import form from the contents manager "center" page, click on the link "Import/export XML" in the "Administration" zone.

import/export form:

the following options are available in the import form:



-. file selector: The information requested by the import form is the identification of the file to be imported. When you click on "Select file/Browse/..." the system facilitates navigation through your system to locate the XML document to be imported..



-. option ignore 'item' file-type data : If you wish to ignore the insertion/updating/deletion of file-type "items" (documents, pictures...) you must select this option.



NOTE: the import process does not insert or modify the files, but does permit them to be deleted, their physical existence controlled and it enables associated information to be updated, such as: size, dimensions, type and name. To update information referring to files, these must physically exist in their corresponding directory: rcs_prod, rcs_gene, rcs_circ, ...



-. option Insert when the identifier does not exist or is inappropriate : Contents that have been exported all arrive identified. The identifiers allow unmistakable location so that the importing system recognizes the origin of each and every component in the data and/or structure . whether you are proceeding to import files from web sites of different users or just recovering copies of data or structures that have changed over time, the system will give errors caused by unknown identifiers when trying to import. When this option is selected, you can ignore these errors by going ahead with "insertion", if there is an unrecognized identifier.
